GEARit Cat 6 Ethernet Cable 10 Ft, Outdoor Direct Burial Cat6 Cable

A bit deceptive listing. No spool. Big pain when trying to unwind with one person and then has memory. Cable itself seems fine.

Not actually shielded, inaccurate description. Look at the photo - the drain wire is fully inside the clear plastic sleeve, with no contact or continuity to the foil. No way to ground the sleeve.

150ft for a sale price of $30. Quite a good deal. Just want folks to know that the pre-terminated variety are still solid copper and perfectly suitable for field termination. Ended up only using 90ft, so now I have a nice spool left over for the next outdoor device haha.It's appropriately stiff with double insulation and plastic film, as any good outdoor cable should be. Sadly my house is old enough that the electric isn't grounded, so the fact that it has shielding is actually a detractor for me, as it's technically an EMI antenae now, but I still get full gigabit throughput. EMI on 90ft of shielded cable would really only affect multigigabit speeds, and my needs are a modest half gig full duplex.I guess my only real criticism is that the twist rates are Cat6, which is fine, but a lot of Cat6 made today exceeds the official Cat6 spec for twist rate, which improves the signal, and GEARit doesn't. Again, this would only affect folks who need multigig speeds.

Starting with 4 stars - could go to 5, could go lower depending on how this performs over time. Nearly every cable sold on Amazon has at least a handful of people who say it crapped-out on them, ran great at first, then mysteriously died. While I don't plan on actually cutting into this cable to determine if it is in fact "Pure Copper" and not copper clad aluminum, I do plan on testing it for a few months before my carriage house is ready and this becomes the primary feed from our house. (200 ft run). It actually mystifies me how people can see an otherwise unmoved and unmolested cable degrade SO much over a short time. My first instinct is to call "BS", but better safe than sorry. I use both Ookla Speedtest and Fast.com to measure my bandwidth. Something you HAVE to keep in mind - your ISPs throttle your bandwidth all the time, and they'll open up the throttle when they see you are going to one of those sites. That's why the first test could say 350 Mbps and the next one 620 Mbps. If you're going to post results here, run each of those several times. And run a control (2nd computer) to see how it compares.Right now using this cable I'm at about 800 Mbps on Comcast. Very much on a par with my other PCs on 6 ft. patch cords. I plan to check frequently to see if/when this starts to vary (mysteriously?). Assuming it continues to work fine, it will get pulled through the conduit to the carriage house and tested again. The plan is to protect the connector as best as we can and pull it through as well (4" conduit). As soon as it's up on the other side I will resume testing and edit this review. If I see it degrade before then I will also edit this review.FWIW, it is a very stiff cable, and I'm not sure that it would like tight bend radiuses. (radii) It looks you could be asking for trouble unless you keep the bend radius to at least 8". I also would not recommend this for inside wiring. Looks like it would keep the bad stuff out in a burial situation, but mine will run inside a conduit.

The Ethernet cable appears well made. Before installing the cable I connected my Scout Pro 3 cable tester.The cable FAILED open. There is no continuity on 7 and 8.

Packaging was a little lacking, as my box arrived partial split open, and it kind of fell apart when I tried to find the end of the cable. It was also very difficult to locate the end in the middle of the box, which is where you need to start spooling the cable from. I eventually located it, but it would have been nice if they attached a tag or something to make it easier to find or even secured it to the box with some tape or something.As for using the cable, it is a bit harder to work with that most Cat6 cable. This is primarily due to the thickness and stiffness, which is quite a bit different that your typical Cat6. The additional PVC outer casing plus the plastic wire divider inside make it much stiffer, and takes a little more effort to get everything prepped for termination. Make sure you have a decent set of strippers and cutters to work with it.I would not suggest using this for anything indoors, as the extra cost and difficulty in working with it is only justified if you really need outdoor cable. But for either direct bury or even just outdoor cable exposed exposed to sun, water, snow, or other challenging conditions, this is a great option.Knocking one star for the poor packaging and lack of securing the cable end where it can be easily found. Otherwise good cable for outdoor use.

This is some very nice cable and was great to stringing it up my 50ft tower for a ptz cam. Good quality.

I bought this and cut it to length. Afterward I found out that there was a short somewhere in the cable. Probably can't return it, as I cut it, not needing to use all 100 feet. Now i have two lengths of cable that I can't use because of a short somewhere. Will never buy again.

Wow, heavy jacketed cable, decent flexibility. Hope it lives up to its description. 75 feet being used as back haul connection in a 2.5gb mesh router system.

Decent cable for the price. It twists and kinks a lot coming out of the box. Other higher quality cables deploy and pull much easier. If you're looking for inexpensive and willing to deal with the kinks and have someone watch the box as you pull, this will work.

STRONG CABLE

I used this cable to install a security camera on some property we own. I had no issues with connectivity and it was very easy to use and install.I wanted something reliable since I would be using it for video on a night vision security camera. So far this is working perfectly and supports the speeds I needed. The cable is a good thickness and appears to be very durable.

This is a very solid, well-made Ethernet cable. I bought it for an outdoor network installation, and the heavy-duty jacket and overall construction feel much more substantial than a typical indoor Ethernet cable.The 25-foot length worked perfectly for my setup, the connectors fit securely, and the network connection has been reliable with no issues.
